YouTube re-encodes audio to AAC at 128 kbps stereo (or Opus for some clients), so uploading 384 kbps gives the encoder enough headroom to preserve quality after re-encode.
Why YouTube Re-Encodes Your Videos
No matter what you upload, YouTube re-encodes every video into multiple resolution and bitrate variants. This is how the same video plays at 144p on a flaky connection and 4K on a TV.
